2001 — 2026. Twenty-five years.
This year, MC-monitoring proudly celebrates a quarter century of designing, manufacturing, and supporting condition monitoring solutions for rotating machinery. What began in 2001 as a small Swiss engineering team in Fribourg has grown into an internationally recognized name in the field of protection, monitoring, and diagnostic systems. Today, with more than 10,000 sensors shipped every year, over 1,000 monitored power plants around the globe, and two patented product lines, MC-monitoring is trusted by major OEMs, end-users, and engineering companies wherever rotating machinery plays a critical role.
As we mark this milestone, we want to take a moment to look back on the journey, recognize the people who made it possible, and share a glimpse of what comes next.
A journey shaped by innovation
From the very beginning, innovation has been at the core of who we are. Every breakthrough, every product, and every patent reflects the passion of generations of employees committed to making rotating machinery safer, more reliable, and more efficient.
Here are the key milestones that have shaped MC-monitoring over the past 25 years.
2001 — The foundation
MC-monitoring is founded in Fribourg, Switzerland, with a clear ambition: bring Swiss precision and engineering excellence to condition monitoring for rotating machinery.
2002–2009 — The art of sensors
A first generation of proprietary sensor technologies is developed and patented: the Air Gap Transmitter (AGT), patented in 2004, and the Fiberoptic Acceleration Sensor (FAS), patented in 2006. These foundational technologies, complemented by electrodynamic sensors with integrated electronics and runner clearance probes, establish MC-monitoring's signature in the field.
2007 — ISO 9001:2000 certification
MC-monitoring obtains its first ISO 9001 certification, formalizing a culture of quality already deeply rooted in the company and providing the foundation for further international growth.

2011 — Joining the Infoteam group
MC-monitoring becomes part of Infoteam Informatique Holding SA, a Swiss technology group active in industrial automation and software engineering. This integration opens a new chapter of growth, supported by shared resources and a long-term industrial vision, while MC-monitoring preserves its engineering culture.
2013 — A new home in Givisiez
MC-monitoring inaugurates a new facility in Givisiez, in the canton of Fribourg, supporting the company's growth and reinforcing its capacity to develop and manufacture in Switzerland.
2014 — The CMS-500 Orca software
Launch of the CMS-500 Orca condition monitoring software, marking a major step forward in data visualization, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance capabilities.
2015 — Second generation Fiberoptic FAS
A new generation of the Fiberoptic Acceleration Sensor (MEMS-based) is developed and later patented in 2017 — confirming MC-monitoring's continuous investment in advanced sensing technologies.

2016 — Third generation Air Gap Transmitter
The third generation of the AGT is released, delivering enhanced accuracy and long-term stability for hydro-generator monitoring worldwide.
2018 — Remote monitoring and Industry 4.0
Launch of the RTM (Rotor Temperature Monitor), introducing remote temperature sensing capabilities and reinforcing our commitment to connected, Industry 4.0-ready solutions.
2024 — The PLUS family
A transformative step forward. The launch of the PLUS product family introduces the PMS-300 PLUS rack-based system, the PMM-300 PLUS distributed module, and the enhanced CMS-500 PLUS software. Together they form a fully integrated multimodal monitoring platform built for the demands of modern industry.
Also, our Field Service team reaches a new milestone by achieving advanced-level Mobius Institute Vibration Analyst certifications. Building on years of accumulated expertise, this step reflects our continued investment in technical excellence and deepens the diagnostic capabilities we bring to our customers on site.

2025 — Smart Proximity System (SPS)
The Smart Proximity System (SPS) is officially released, a next-generation eddy-current measurement solution that redefines flexibility in shaft vibration and axial position monitoring. With its fully interchangeable probe, extension cable, and transmitter architecture, the SPS simplifies installation, replacement, and on-site maintenance for both new projects and retrofits.

- Turbogenerators, where our solutions detect electrical and mechanical anomalies early on, helping operators safeguard the high-voltage components at the heart of power plant availability.
