PMM-300 PLUS Rhino — Distributed Protection & Monitoring Module

PMM-300P Distributed Protection & Monitoring Module

The PMM-300 PLUS is a compact five-channel distributed Protection & Monitoring Module for rotating machinery, designed for installation close to the machine. Its all-in-one architecture enables precise signal acquisition directly at the source, making it particularly suited for installations with limited space or decentralized architectures.

The system is designed to grow with your needs: up to eight PMM-300P modules can be combined into a compact yet powerful system for small to medium-sized installations, and dedicated extension modules allow flexible adaptation to specific application requirements.

Key features

  • Five channels: 4 dynamic + 1 phase reference, bandwidth DC to 20 kHz
  • Stackable up to 8 modules sharing power, phase reference and interconnections
  • Expandable with dedicated extension modules
  • Direct machine mounting with internal signal conditioning, no additional devices required
  • Configurable alarms and status signals for each channel
  • Real-time configuration via PMx-300P Manager, long-term diagnostics via CMS-500P Orca
  • Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP and OPC UA support, with built-in firewall

Description

Designed for rotating machinery of all kinds, the PMM-300P integrates the complete measurement chain into a single module mounted at the machine: signals are conditioned and processed where they are measured, with no external conditioner required. This distributed architecture reduces cabling, saves space, and keeps each machine autonomously protected.

  • Scalable by design: stack up to 8× PMM-300P modules to build a cost-effective distributed system. One module acts as master and holds the statuses of the complete system, while each module continues to monitor and protect autonomously according to its own configuration.
  • Advanced signal analysis: two signal paths per channel, low frequency and high frequency, enable detailed analysis from DC to 20 kHz.
  • Fully configurable alarms and outputs: define your own alarm logic and assign any available status, from any module in the system, to the physical outputs. Relays can be configured as energized or de-energized by default, supporting both alarm annunciation and fail-safe protection schemes.
  • Straightforward commissioning: front-facing BNC terminals give direct access to the dynamic signals for verification and diagnostics, without disconnecting the installation.
  • Software integration: Ethernet connectivity to the PMx-300P Manager for configuration and real-time data, and to the CMS-500P Orca software for long-term trending, correlated diagnostics and predictive maintenance.
  • Cybersecurity by design: built-in firewall, developed in line with internationally recognized standards for industrial automation systems.

Extension modules

The PMM-300P is the master of a modular family. Extension modules mount on the same DIN rail, are powered directly through the sidebus connector with no additional wiring, and are configured from the same PMx-300P Manager software.

PMM-391P Relay Extension Module

The PMM-391P adds six software-configurable relay outputs to the PMM-300P, each with NO, COM and NC contacts and a dedicated status LED. Every relay can be assigned to any status or combination of statuses of the system: a Danger level on one channel, a logical combination across several modules, or a system watchdog. Up to six modules can be stacked per master, for a total of 36 relay outputs.

PMM-392P Temperature Extension Module

The PMM-392P adds temperature acquisition to the PMM-300P: up to 6 RTD channels or 12 thermocouple channels per module, and up to 32 temperature probes per master system. Each channel is individually software-configurable among 7 RTD types (Pt10, Pt50, Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni120, in 2, 3 or 4-wire connection) and 8 thermocouple types (J, K, E, N, R, S, T, B), with internal or external cold junction compensation.
