Windturbines on the ocean

WINDTURBINES

Gearless wind turbines rely on ball bearings for proper operation and are generally subjected to a wide variety of extreme operating conditions and environments. As a result, modes of deterioration can develop, jeopardizing the performance and life of the bearings and, consequently, the reliability and productivity of the wind turbine.

Fully understanding the most common failure modes of wind turbine bearings is a challenge, especially since each bearing failure will be unique due to the many possible causes in the context of operating conditions.

MC-monitoring offers ways to reduce the likelihood of premature bearing failures, minimize maintenance and operating costs, promote life extension, and ultimately help keep turbines operating as intended.

MC-monitoring is working since more than a decade with major OEMs in the monitoring of gearless windmills.
